Breast ultrasonography<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Breast ultrasonography (USG) is a visual diagnostic procedure that uses high frequency soundwaves to analyse breast tissue structure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The procedure is quick and painless. It allows to examine the breast gland and soft breast tissue. Procedure is performed for prophylaxis, in cases when a mammogram shows changes or when changes that might not show on the mammogram are felt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For women after 40 years of age it is recommended to perform breast gland examinations at following intervals: mammography once in 2 years, ultrasonography once a year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

USG examination is particularly important for women with breast implants. After breast augmentation it is obligatory to perform ultrasonography once a year. Also, this examination must be done before breast correction surgeries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important! <\/strong>Patients, who have previously undergone mammography, must bring with the mammography result pictures (on CD or with internet access \u2013 DATAMED).  After 40 years of age it is recommended to have mammography examinations once every 2 years. Ultrasonography is an additional health examination method used for patients after 40 years of age.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fibroadenomas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Fibroadenomas are solid, non-cancerous lumps in the breast, most often occurring in women between the ages of 15 and 35. Fibroadenomas are firm and smooth and have a well-defined shape. They are usually painless and move easily under the skin when examined. Fibroadenomas vary in size and may also change in size over the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Fibroadenomas are one of the most common benign breast conditions. The treatment may include regular visits to the mammologist and ultrasound scans to detect a change in size or sensation, a biopsy, or a surgery to remove it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
